Abstract:
The Information Bulletin studies Russian university faculty experiences with Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), their attitude towards introduction of MOOCs into the educational process, as well as their expectations of the effects of digitalization. The study examines professors’ experience of teaching with the application of information and communications technologies. According to the results, the majority of Russian university faculty already have experience in online teaching, they actively use the Electronic Information-Educational Environment of their institution and apply MOOCs in teaching. The use of MOOCs in the educational process appears to be a common practice. The faculty turns out to be quite positive about adoption of MOOCs in academic process compared to previous years of the research. Additionally, professors are more comfortable with application of MOOCs to general subjects rather than specialized ones. The research points out that professors are particularly concerned with a potential increase of the workload, staff reduction and a high possibility of quits among older workers due to digitalization.
