Abstract: The information bulletin describes the participation of children aged 6-13 y.o., studying at school, in additional education. The activity of children attending extracurricular activities out of school, socio-demographic differences and the dynamics of the indicator are considered. The empirical basis is the data from the longitudinal household survey of the Russian Monitoring of the Economic Situation and Health of the National Research University Higher School of Economics for 2015-2019. The share of schoolchildren aged 6-13 who attend additional activities in their free time is consistently high (75%). Parents choose traditional types of additional education (creative and sports activities), while technical and natural science classes remain in low demand throughout the whole period under consideration. Children's participation in additional education shows a pattern similar to that observed in the adult population: the level of involvement is closely related to school performance and accessibility of additional education infrastructure.
