Abstract: In this essay we try to connect our current artistic work (a simulation of photography) to the notion of scandal. The technique of pastiche is "scandalous" in itself, as it empties the content or the sense of the copied object. Faking photography indeed violates the documentary function of this medium. Another aspect of scandal is to point out the presence of an ambiguity, in other words the possibility of multiple ways to look at a given phenomenon. As far as ambiguity is a major issue at work in our approach, there is scope for scandal both at the level of the technique and of the visual and thematic content.
