Homo Oeconomicus, 2003, vol. 19, 519-541

Abstract: The paper shows that enlarging the model of the traditional homo economicus, we find some interesting anticipations of his form in the work of ancestors as Plato, Aristotle or Smith. Although the paper has a certain temporal consistency it does not aim at giving an overall picture, but at highlighting a few interesting passages and comparing them with contemporary economics in the light of a more sophisticated model of man.
