Abstract: Looking at the changing nature of the city of Glasgow and how its regeneration is being driven by commercial development, leaving communities on the edge of the city neglected and large tracts of land derelict. The need for a vision to underpin city structures is argued and the role of the artist in addressing these issues is highlighted with reference to projects in the UK.
