International Journal of Academic Research in Business and Social Sciences, 2014, vol. 4, issue 8, 111-121

Abstract: This study examined the influence of sex and gender-role on safe-sex behaviours. A total of 202 (male=68, females=134) participants whose ages range between 15 and 56 years were randomly selected from a federal university in Nigeria. The objective of this study was to determine if sex and gender-role would independently and jointly influence personal control of men and women. Findings of this study revealed an independent influence of gender-role on personal control. No other influence was significant. The implication of this finding was discussed with reference to relevant literature. Recommendations were made based on the result of this study.
