An Investigation on Developmental Supervision Model: Supervisors' and Administrators' Opinions and Teachers' Expectations

Abstract:
The aim of the study was to determine supervisors' and school administrators' opinion and teachers' expectations of supervision according to Glickman's developmental supervision model. 70 supervisors, 66 school administrators and 529 teachers constituted the participants of the study and relation survey model was used as a method. Data were collected with a questionnaire developed by the researchers. Mann Whitney U test and Kruskal Wallis test were carried out for analysis. As a result of the study, supervisors’ and school administrators’ opinion and teachers’ expectations of supervision were found in line with Glickman’s developmental supervision for only Scenario 2. Moreover; the most selected behavior was collaborative in Scenario1,4 and 5 as well as the most selected behavior was directive informational behavior in the other two scenarios. Finally, statistical significant differences were found in some comparisons to demographic variables.
