EVIDENCE ON THE CURRENT STATE OF THE SHRIMP INDUSTRY IN ECUADOR

Abstract:
This article presents evidence regarding the current state of the shrimp industry in the Republic of Ecuador. The paper conducts a survey that highlights existing problems the industry faces. The author proposes several solutions for the short and long-term correction and elimination of such problems. The Ecuadorian economy consists of three major sectors: (1) The Primary Sector includes agriculture, aquaculture, livestock, and mining; (2) The Secondary Sector consists of industrial production; and (3) The Tertiary Sector includes all types of services.
