Revista Global de Negocios, 2013, vol. 1, issue 2, 19-30

Abstract: This article discusses the importance of the sources of competitive advantage by cost or differentiation in the avocado value chain of exporting companies located in Uruapan, Michoacán. The analysis is made by assessing the impact of independent variables, dimensions and indicators on the dependent variable. This approach allows us to know or show the source of competitive advantage. That is, to observe the totally competitive advantage, you must know what activity the advantage derives from. Also, shown is the value chain, which is formed by the following agents or links: nurserymen, growers, packers and shippers. The results show the packers link with the best performance in variable cost and differentiation.
