Abstract:
The objective of this research was to analyze the accumulation of technological capacities in the Televisions Industries in the city of Tijuana. Tiajuana recently came to be considered the most important telivition industry area in the world, measured by the production volume, exports and its participation in the North American market. We assess the impact this industry has had as a source of qualified resources and knowledge, not only as a low cost manufacturing and assembly center but also as an access point to the United States Market. The methodology used was a descriptive case study and cross-section analysis. The results show there is learning and competency of technological capabilities in production capacities, and design of processes that do not involve specialized technology. In terms of support and investment functions innovation capabilities are basic. The televisions industry needs to seek out develop successful practices that contribute building technological capabilities to improve their competitiveness and contribute to the region’s development.
