Abstract:
This research analyzes factors that impact competitiveness of Micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in the housing construction industry in Mexicali, Baja California. The variables studied include strategic management and competitiveness. Strategic management focuses on planning, organization, direction and control of the businesses. Competitiveness explores different propellers of competitiveness, opportunities, strengths, weaknesses and threats from the companies. The purpose of this study is to provide up-to-date information to entrepreneurs seeking to set up this type of business and to existing construction companies. A non-probability sample of 25 local construction firms was studied. We conducted interviews of managers in the construction industry in Mexico.
