Abstract: Foreign companies, as vehicles of foreign direct investment (FDI), are a channel that can contribute to the growth and development of the regions. It can help increase the level of employment, and provide the capability to transfer new knowledge and technology. It can increase the productivity, competitiveness, and the quality of life of the population. This research identifies, quantifies and analyzes the effects generated from foreign companies linked with the blackberry producers in the region Valle de Los Reyes, Michoacán, México. Specifically, we focus on transference of knowledge. We surveyed and interviewed the blackberry producers of the region. Our results allow us to conclude that producers perceive an increase in productivity, and in the quality of life of the population, as part of the links with the foreign companies located in the region
