Abstract: This article investigates whether the motivation of perceived internal causal origin impacts performance in the process of business incubation of entrepreneurs at the Technological Institute of Veracruz (ITV). The population is entrepreneurs who have participated in the process of incubation of businesses, for the period 2006-2015. Data collection was done through a questionnaire whose questions were created to identify how the variable motivation (perceived internal causal origin) is represented in two categories: internal motivation (passion) and external motivation of internal perceived cause (commitment). The results show a low correlation between motivation for internal incubation and hatching of the entrepreneurs to stay in the process of incubation in the phases of pre, and moderate post incubation phases. In addition, entrepreneurs who ended the incubation process tended to have a greater passion for their project. We conclude that entrepreneurs do not show a representative internal motivation towards the incubation process. They only comply with it. This study suggests expediting the process of incubation in the ITV
