Abstract:
The importance of life quality, has evolved into a concept widely used in various fields. This research contributes to the knowledge of worker´s living conditions in the southeast region of Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico. An instrument was designed with 28 indicators. The instrument was applied to 451 salaried employees. The results show that perceived income does not depend on the degree of studies; 11.8% of the interviewed earn less than $ 3,000 pesos per month; 44% of men and 23% of women are operators and technicians; 57% of married couples are dual income. The living conditions are good and reflected in the housing conditions as well as the material assets within them. They have better job stability conditions, since 80% have written and fixed contracts and are engaged in activities that have better growth prospects. Some 58% of employees have their own home. In Saltillo, Coahuila, companies that have been set up provoke labor competition and turnover of staff because of better salary and benefit offers.
