Abstract:
Men have achieved significant progress in activities they undertake. However, they have damaged the environment through the indiscriminate use of natural resources, generating environmental problems that affect human health. At the beginning of 1970, international organizations began issuing environmental regulations. In 1988 Mexico initiated legislation on the matter. In 1992, the Official Mexican Standards emerged, establishing technical standards for goods and services manufactured and/or commercialized to avoid risks for the population, environment and animals. In this research, compliance with the norms was analyzed and identified in 45 medium and large companies. The study was carried out in the Metropolitan Zone of the Mexican Valley, specifically in the Industrial Zone of Xalostoc. This industrial zone is the most polluted area of the country due to high population and businesses concentration. The research was qualitative. Public information was analyzed due to lack of response from companies to answer the questionnaire. We found that 82% of companies lack a sustainable administration. There was an average of compliance of 15% to environmental standards. Standards with the greatest compliance are: environment 27%, waste 22% and water 18%
