Abstract: At present, there exists a theoretical and empirical debate about causal relationships between growth of the stock market sector and the dynamics of economic growth. Most research finds evidence of unidirectional relationships or special considerations for certain assets. This paper presents a study in sectorial terms. We examine elements the existence of bidirectional relationship between economic growth and market growth disaggregated for the Mexican economy. We stress the use of a short-term impulseresponse methodology by a Vector Autoregressive Model (VAR)
