Abstract: Considering the needs to stimulate companies to collaborate, this paper presents a cooperation typology for the metalworking industry SME located in the central region of the state of Coahuila in Mexico. The methodology used consisted of a documentary review, which allowed the authors to define the different types of cooperation between companies and later to obtain empirical information that was verified against the identified variables. Data was collected from 50 companies using a structured questionnaire. Later the data was analyzed using statistical software SPSS. Four different cooperative forms were identified. These cooperative forms were cooperation to produce, cooperation for marketing, cooperation to manage and cooperation to innovate.
