Abstract:
Crab production (Callinectes bellicosus) has been, an efficient activity in Sonora State fishing industry since the 1980’s. However, the lack of environmental programs has generated a problem whereby it is currently recommended not to increase fishing stress. Therefore, the only growing via for this sector will be given through better performance in the process of crab’s production and marketing. This investigation analyzed the current situation of this industry in the State of Sonora, working through a field study of the different traders established in the coast region of Bahia de Kino, Sonora. We examine production capacity, markets, jobs procreation, production process, prices and suppliers. A semistructured broad survey was applied as a qualitative tool. For the analysis and use of information, the frame of reference used was Porter’s five forces competition model.
