Abstract:
The research develops a model of training in economic, administrative, technological and family values for successful firm succession. We discuss issues associated with the decision to choose a successor in a family business. In Mexico, 90% of businesses are family owned. One problem in these businesses is succession when the founder is finishing his working life. The founder should be prepared to choose a candidate for succession. In Monclova, Coahuila, a significant number of family businesses seek not only development but also permanence and continuity. Eight founders were interviewed in 2011. Findings show only four of twenty-five variables exceeded company expectations.
