Abstract: Since inception of a family business, generally management positions are assigned to the main family members, according to the filial relationship based on the principles of loyalty and trust as elements of family culture. Based on this principle power structures are formed and business experience transmitted to build their own organizational culture. The prevalence of these criteria largely determines the profile of this kind of businesses to the economy of the countries. But, they have a high mortality rate as a result of inadequate long-term planning issues such as generational succession. This study is descriptive because it measures information about variables of the problem, with non-experimental transversal design. It collects data at a single moment in its natural context through interviews with the business leaders. The main objective is to identify the incidence of factors such as power and experience in business culture. The results indicate that the variables under study respond largely to the leadership of founding partners and his particular style in decision making.
