Abstract: Mexico is classified as a mega-diverse country, given the natural resource wealth of flora and fauna, besides the beauty of many geographic regions. These elements have been used by local communities and authorities to encourage tourism as an engine of economic growth. This sector has a positive impact at the population level in terms of employment generation and production, and also helps maintain macroeconomic stability. Tourism also generates a sense of vulnerability in those communities that depend largely on the activity where adverse natural phenomena, external economic pressures and internal negative effects reduce tourist arrivals to the country. This paper seeks to determine the possible effects that global warming has on tourism. The results show the volume of rainfall negatively affects the number of tourists arriving in Mexico, while temperature has a positive effect. This means that as the temperature increases from one to three Celsius degrees as estimated for the present century, the growing trend in the arrival of tourists will continue.
