Abstract: In comparing with other Visegrad countries, Slovakia has since 1990 permanent difficulties to reach and maintain high level of employment. High unemployment used to be traditionally in Poland, too. Other two Visegrad countries, the Czech Republic and Poland used to reach much better economic results. However, if we analyse the situation more comprehensively, unemployment in the Czech Republic and in Poland is problematic, too, especially if we take into account unemployment of women, long-term unemployment, labour market rigidity and impacts of current economic crises on labour market. We will analyse gradually all these aspects focusing especially on women employment.
