Facades of Tall Buildings - State of the Art

Umarani Gunasekaran, Premalatha Emani and Aruna Malini T.p

Modern Applied Science, 2010, vol. 4, issue 12, 116

Abstract: Façades, the first aesthetical feature of a building which distinguishes one building from another, have to fulfill the basic aspects like protection against fire and burglary, climatic influence and environmental pollution. Development in facades has made it more functional, providing designers with the flexibility to create high performance solutions, which are visually exciting, both internally and externally. This paper is the state-of-art discussing the types of glasses in facades, their applications, functional and strength requirements in tall buildings.
