Public Expenditure on Health in India: Growth and Management

Abstract: Health is one of the vital indicators reflecting the quality of life and therefore it has been rightly said, ‘Health is wealth’. Though preservation and promotion of health is one of the most basic human rights, India is still lagging behind in realizing this distant dream. An important factor for her inability to execute this right is the fact that public allocation for the funds has been abysmally low. The present study aims at studying the level and growth of public expenditure on health in India and analyzing the health expenditure management system and its driving forces. Also the study aims at suggesting the best methods of managing health expenditure.
