Abstract: El desempeño organizativo es una función del ajuste entre diversas variables. Esta afirmación ha sido suscrita reiteradamente por investigadores procedentes de distintos campos o ámbitos de estudio. Aún así, en la actualidad, el concepto de ajuste sigue siendo incierto, sin una delimitación clara de cuál es su significado preciso. Esta ambigüedad obstaculiza la corroboración empírica de la anterior afirmación. Este trabajo pretende enmendar este inconveniente. Para lo cual, a partir de una revisión de la literatura, se identifican las diferentes definiciones en las que se ha concretado la idea genérica de ajuste. Asimismo, cada una de ellas se vincula con la técnica de análisis más adecuada para su operativización, juntamente con la proposición teórica defendida. La integración de estos tres elementos –definición, metodología e hipótesis– permite la acotación rigurosa de este concepto. / Organisational performance depends on the fit between several variables. Scholars from different fields have extensively defended this statement. Nevertheless, nowadays the concept of fit is still unclear and there is a lack of accurate definitions. This ambiguity prevents the researchers from empirically confirm the previous claim. The aim of this study is to overcome this problem. To achieve this purpose, we review the literature and identify different definitions that specify the generic idea of fit. Furthermore, we relate each of these definitions to the analytical procedure that is most appropriate to its operationalism, together with the defended theoretical proposition. The integration of these three elements (definition, methodology and hypothesis) allows us to rigorously delimit this concept.
