Abstract: This article investigates the problem of employment in the pre-crisis and post-crisis period. It is given characteristic of productive employment through economic activity of the population by sex, age, level of labor productivity and unemployment. It was identified disparities of branch and sectoral composition of employment in the economy of Ukraine. It is emphasizes the need for a technological breakthrough in the national economy to improve the state of employment.
