Abstract: The article analyses modern state of development of pork production in agricultural companies of Kharkiv oblast. It is established that under modern conditions of farm-keeping, when there is a sharp shortage of funds both in the state and producers, reconstruction of pig-breeding farms and complexes is the most practicable direction of increase of profitability of pork production. Five agricultural companies with the largest pig-breeding farms are used as an example for showing economic efficiency of their reconstruction. In order to overcome unprofitableness of pork production, it is offered to create 15 modular reconstructed or newly constructed complexes of 300 sows (6,000 pigs) or 600 sows (12,000 pigs) capacity in farms with high specific weight of cereal and technical crops in Kharkiv oblast. The article offers sources of coverage of investments for conducting reconstruction of pig-breeding farms.
