Abstract: The article analyses existing approaches to managing personnel security of business units at a micro level; it considers notional and categorical mechanism, environment of formation of the system of managing personnel security of a company; specifies scientific and theoretical approach to optimisation of the process of managing personnel security of a company by means of identification of stages, subsystems of management, interdependencies and interconnections between them, which, unlike existing approaches, ensures rational combination of system and situation oriented management.
