Abstract: The article discusses the genesis of scientific thought on the analysis of patterns of occurrence of the crisis in the world's economies. It was investigated the views of scientists on the cyclical development of the economy, and the causes and background of the crisis. It was reviews current methodological approaches to the prediction of economic crises. It was analyzed such tools predict the possibility of occurrence of the crisis as a simulation of economic processes to diagnose their condition and trends. It was proved that the methodological support diagnostic crisis conditions despite the diversity of the approaches and models are constantly evolving and demonstrates the need to find new and effective tools for analysis of market trends.
