Abstract: The article considers a new direction of the study of crisis phenomena in economy - pathoeconomy. It analyses its essence and specific features and main tasks. It studies and specifies essence of the "pathology" and "pathological process" notions. It offers a scheme of assessment of the state of health of the human body and its treatment, which is used for development of a methodical approach for assessment of the state of the sectors of economy of the country and their recovery. The article marks out leading sectors and spheres of activity of Ukrainian economy, which can be subject to pathological processes. It formulates a model of a life cycle of development of the sectors of economy. It forms a complex of interdependent hypotheses that form the basis of pathoeconomy.
