 Entrepreneurial intention of return emigrants: role of migration experiences and access of financeP.A. Ibrahim Global Business and Economics Review, 2024, vol. 30, issue 4, 485-512 Abstract: Despite the reintegration of migrants in their home country as an emerging socio-economic issue, this study explores the determinants of the entrepreneurial intention of return migrants and argues that entrepreneurship is an effective tool to reintegrate the returnees without harming the socio-economic balance of the economy. The study applied a modified version of the theory of planned behaviour (TPB) with migration experience and access to finance to examine the entrepreneurial intention of returnees. Required data was sourced from 217 returnees of India who have started their enterprises for the permanent settlement and analysed with a structural equation model (SEM). The study found that migration experience and access to finance are significant predictors of entrepreneurial behaviour of returnees along with the factors of TPB; however, the personal attitude to entrepreneurship was not a determinant in the proposed model. The study highlights the promotion of entrepreneurship among returnees has multifaceted effects on the socio-economic growth of the home country.
