Abstract:
This present paper is intended to summarise most of the current computerised technologies, highlighting their interpretation and implementation in Fiat Auto, with a particular emphasis on the possibility they offer for a tighter integration of external suppliers. The items that will be addressed here under are the following: the competitive scenario in the 2000s; new IT opportunities and related development methodologies; and the impact of supplier partnerships. Positive aspects together with relevant drawbacks are analysed to identify their impact on the VDP and the related strategies adopted in Fiat.
