Improving performance in Olympic Games: a survey and guidelines for Indian sports

Abstract:
The success in the international sports of any nation depends upon various components such as economic conditions, training, and support system. The purpose of this paper is to review the existing practices of the athletes in the Olympic Games. Based on the extensive search strategy, this study reviews 27 research articles from various countries across the world focusing on providing strategies and techniques for the successful performance of Olympic athletes. The performance of the existing Olympic athletes is assessed. The work provides guidelines for improving the performance of athletes in Olympic Games. Further, the positive and negative factors affecting an athlete in the Olympic game are extracted and listed. A framework for improving the performance of athletes in India in Olympic sports is given.
