International Journal of Bibliometrics in Business and Management, 2025, vol. 4, issue 2, 159-179

Abstract: This research explores the concept, governance, and significance of enterprise risk management (ERM) in the banking industry. It identifies trends and literature gaps through bibliometric analysis, which helps in mapping key study areas, country coverage, top journals, and prolific authors in banking and finance. Data were drawn from Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar, covering 8,439 records published between 1997 and 2024 using the keywords 'ERM' or 'integrated risk management (IRM)'. After screening, 575 peer-reviewed and thematically relevant articles were selected for detailed analysis. The study employed VOS Viewer software to visualise and interpret bibliometric data extracted in CSV format. Findings highlight underexplored areas that can guide future research in ERM and banking. This work contributes to advancing knowledge by offering insights into ERM's evolving dynamics and its impact on banking industry performance, making it relevant for academics, practitioners, and policy stakeholders.
