Unveiling dynamic interplay of strategic human resource management and firm performance through bibliometric analysis

Abstract: Over the last few decades, the link between strategic human resource management (SHRM) and firm performance has attracted substantial interest from researchers, requiring an extensive overview of its structure and evolution. So, the study adopts a bibliometric approach and extracts documents from 2004 to 2024 using Scopus. This paper combines techniques such as three-field plots, Bradford's law, and Lotka's law, alongside co-authorship, co-citation, and co-occurrence analysis, to identify prolific authors, journals, and countries. The findings indicate that the literature has recently broadened, highlighting researchers and institutions from the USA, China, and Australia, with Wright PM being the most prolific author in this domain. Also, the focus of human resource management (HRM) has evolved from strategic HRM to sustainable and electronic HRM. Furthermore, the study also outlines prospective research agendas for novice researchers and assists managers in identifying key areas that will enable organisations to remain at the forefront of industry trends.
