International Journal of Business Continuity and Risk Management, 2014, vol. 5, issue 2, 147-164

Abstract: Nowadays, developing and commercialising know-how in oil, gas and petrochemical are vital. Hence it is necessary to investigate different ways of commercialising in the development process. Because of inherent risk at each stage of different ways of commercialisation, it is necessary to carry out risk assessment for all stages. Risk assessment at different stages of know-how commercialisation can reduce the technology development lead time and commercialisation lead time and creates competitive advantage for commercialisation. The present article proposes a model to assess risks of know-how commercialisation, based on comprehensive review of literature and personal experience of the authors. According to the model, understanding IP-related risks play an important role in determining the economic value of the organisation's IP.
