An assessment of orthogonal defect classification in quality assurance

Abstract:
There are several techniques for testing application software for quality assurance. The most reliable technique is to perform a complete exhaustive testing. Another technique is regression testing. Under regression testing, the complete suite of test cases need not be executed. Only a subset of the test cases is required. One possible approach is to identify the most critical features of software, and place more emphasis on those. Another approach is to develop a statistical procedure for identifying critical test cases. A third approach is to use the orthogonal defect classification (ODC) technique. This paper focuses on the use of these techniques in the design and execution of the test plans.
