Abstract:
The University of Tyumen (UT) or Tyumen State University is examined as a case study of how Russian regions are responding to the global trends in education and research. UT's rapidly growing research output also positions it as an important research university, but in the case of entrepreneurship it is failing to establish profitable start-up and spin-off firm formation as well as technology commercialisation. We conclude by identifying future needs for fostering innovative and entrepreneurial behaviour in order to strengthen the university's competitiveness.
