 The application of lean practices on new product development processesSupachart Iamratanakul International Journal of Business and Globalisation, 2017, vol. 19, issue 2, 217-232 Abstract: The study of application of lean practices on new product development (NPD) processes could create fluctuation in the level of organisational improvement. However, some studies in the past shown that there are few studies that apply lean practices or on the exact nature of the impact of lean on NPD performance. To further understand the application of lean to improve NPD performance, additional studies are needed. This research was designed to find the results for these understanding. The objectives of this research were: 1) to identify common practices used to apply lean to NPD processes; 2) to identify performance indicators used to evaluate NPD process performance; 3) to identify challenges faced by organisations in applying lean to NPD; 4) to study whether or not there was a relationship between the number of practices used and NPD process performance; 5) to study whether or not there was a relationship between years of experience with lean and NPD process performance. The findings of this research can provide valuable insights for organisations seeking to improve NPD process in an organisation.
