Assessment potential of community enterprises to enhance their sustainable competitive advantage in Thailand

Abstract: Assessment potential of community enterprise in Thailand is evaluated every year by government agencies. According to previous literature, there was still not enough research carried out in the field and not have identifying factors for achieve competitive advantage. It shows that the gap is research. The purpose of this research is to develop criterion to assess the potential of community enterprises and to evaluate them empirically. The methodology used mixed methods, semi-structured interviews expertise and survey questionnaires. Data were analysed using confirmatory factor analysis. The results demonstrated 11 factors and 33 indicators to assess and solve operations of the community enterprise, this research identified factors of philosophy of sufficiency economy and sustainability in the criterion as these perspectives become the key activity to achieve competitive advantage. The result can be applied for the community enterprise and will be beneficial for the Royal Thai Government. This study will also benefit other countries with similar circumstance as Thailand.
