Abstract: Small and medium enterprise (SME) have important and strategic roles in national economic development, such as absorbing employment and distributing economic product. SME is also proven to be able to survive in economic crisis. Unfortunately, SME is often experiencing problems that make the business is not sustainable. These problems are almost related to all management business aspects. This research intends to make a performance assessment framework for SME as guidance in making improvements as well as self-assessment and self-improvement tools. Starting from the literature review process to collect important attributes then are proposed to the expert panel in FGD. The experts choose which indicators are important and give feedback on the degree of relative importance for all indicators using AHP. The performance assessment framework for SME focuses on manufacturing, service, and trading sectors. It is suitable to be used to differentiate overall performance among SME.
