Abstract:
Social entrepreneurship (SE) are pinned to be in a position of combating various socio-economic tattered issues. Following the initiative by the government to promote SE among graduates, research on how far students are willing to become social entrepreneur is relevant to be conducted. Thus, this paper aims at to examine the antecedents of a student's intention to become social entrepreneurs. This quantitative research has employed stratified random sampling in a survey among 480 undergraduate students from public and private universities. From the multiple regression analyses, the results provide strong support that attitude towards behaviour, moral obligation, personality traits, perceived social support and perceived behavioural control are positively related to SE intention. This study contributes to the literature by formulating a comprehensive model of SE intention; whilst offering several important practical implications for Malaysian higher learning institutions, SE educators and students. Limitations and future directions are also discussed in the study.
