Abstract:
The hotel industry is a major industry, which is facing a global crisis, i.e., work and lack of skill. Bad HR practices have contributed to a crisis in skilled jobs and this could be due to truncated levels of wage, which in turn decreases employee satisfaction. On the contrary, effective HR practices create healthy job satisfaction for employees. Therefore, considering the research gap, this study is to investigate the relationship between human resource practices (HRP) and job satisfaction (JS) with the moderating role of 'type of hotel'. This study collected a sample size of 82 hotels (independent hotel = 36 and chain hotel = 46) in Dehradun (India). The partial least squares method was used to establish the relationship between HRP and JS. The results indicate that HR practices are a positive relationship with job satisfaction in chain hotels. Research limitations and future directions are discussed.
