International Journal of Business and Globalisation, 2011, vol. 6, issue 1, 73-91

Abstract: In this paper, a comparative study is made between Japan and Korea on the diffusion process model for the IC-card system. First, the IC-card systems of Japan and Korea are presented. Then various systems (electronic money, traffic IC-card, mobile IC-card, passport, identification, mileage card, cash card, and credit card) and services are applied to them. The diffusion process model for the IC-card system is then examined. It is presented as a unique diffusion model rather than a common diffusion model, because the IC-card system is a multi-function system and applies various systems. Finally, a comparative analysis is made between Japan and Korea on the diffusion process model for the IC-card system.
