International Journal of Business Innovation and Research, 2019, vol. 19, issue 1, 125-138

Abstract: This paper discusses the diffusion of financial technology or FinTech in the banking industry. The main contribution of this research study is the development of systemic innovation model which can be used as a tool to understand the systemic characteristics and the pattern of technology diffusion. It is argued that systemic characteristics of the innovation process are the outcome of interactions between the complexity of the innovation and the capabilities of innovators in managing the innovation. The study provides useful implications to support the FinTech landscape of the banking industry.
