Abstract:
This paper deals with the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in human resource management (HRM). Although AI emerged in the mid 20th century, current literature still offers an inconsistent view of AI in HRM. This piece of research provides an overview of the academic literature published in this field. AI and HRM, two separate research streams so far, have been analysed to aggregate knowledge and to identify common patterns of interaction between them. The aim of this paper is to analyse how AI can influence HRM and derive a specific definition of AI in HRM. Moreover, the authors discuss AI applications in HRM and current academic framework for AI adoption in HRM. The findings show a comprehensive review of the relationship between AI and HRM, identifying research gaps regarding this knowledge area and the implications concerning AI.
