Human resource management in Chinese hi-tech enterprises: a case study

Jianan Kang and Amrik S. Sohal

International Journal of Business Innovation and Research, 2011, vol. 5, issue 2, 179-191

Abstract: This paper examines developments in human resource management (HRM) in a Chinese hi-tech enterprise established by a leading higher educational institution. The case study describes the initial weaknesses in the human resource (HR) function and then applies a HRM model to the actual HRM practice. This has resulted in significant improvements of the HR function and has also contributed to scientific research and its commercialisation by the hi-tech enterprise.
