ERP implementation model, findings and its applications to organisations: an exploratory case analysis

Girish H. Subramanian

International Journal of Business Information Systems, 2022, vol. 41, issue 2, 177-192

Abstract: An ERP implementation model is developed with the help of a review of relevant literature and is supported by research. This implementation model has four phases - preparation and training, transition, performance and usefulness, and maintenance. For the purpose of this paper, we use a case analysis of four organisations and the ERP implementation model to come up with recommendations for ERP implementation in modern organisations. Our key recommendations include: doing a business process reengineering and process alignment with the ERP software as part of preparation phase; designing training differently with thorough, detailed post-implementation training; recommending the use of the phased approach in transition; and relying mostly on an in-house IT support team in partnership with external vendors for ERP software maintenance.
