International Journal of Business Information Systems, 2022, vol. 41, issue 2, 258-288

Abstract: This paper tries to assess and identify information sharing barriers in supply chains, in particular, the automotive sector in Iran. After literature review, the barriers to information sharing were identified and then, using experts' opinion and the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) technique, the identified barriers were ranked to determine and choose the significant barriers to information sharing. Next, a framework was proposed using interpretative structural modelling (ISM) to investigate the relationship between the important barriers. Finally, the results were presented in a final model. This study has significant practical implications for organisations as it identifies the main information sharing barriers and their causal relationships. This will help firms in the process of collaboration through information sharing particularly for mitigation strategies for dominant barriers. The present study makes an empirical contribution to the body of knowledge by investigating an integrated framework focusing on information sharing barriers and its impact on firms' performance.
