International Journal of Business Information Systems, 2023, vol. 44, issue 1, 137-159

Abstract: The objective of this systematic mapping study was to examine methods of acceptance evaluation in wearable health systems and which aspects most commonly impact the use of these systems. This review was performed on Scopus, Web of Science and PubMed, covering usability and acceptance of wearable systems. The search started from 386 papers, with a total of 20 included in the study. This study showed a predominance of the use of TAM and SUS methods with questionnaires. The most frequent types of applications were fall detection and monitoring of physical activities. The number of studies on monitoring of physical activities may be due to the availability of smart bands and smartwatches in the market. The constructs with the highest impact on adoption were 'perceived usefulness' and 'perceived ease of use'. The study contributed to analysing the current state of acceptance assessments of wearable systems and how the assessments can be improved.
